Fuel Injector

A fuel injector is a component of a fuel injection system that is responsible for delivering fuel to the engine’s combustion chamber. It is a small electrically operated valve that opens and closes at precisely timed intervals to spray fuel into the engine’s intake manifold or directly into the combustion chamber.

The fuel injector receives pressurized fuel from the fuel pump and is controlled by the engine control module (ECM) or engine control unit (ECU). The ECM determines how much fuel is needed for optimal engine performance based on inputs from various sensors such as the throttle position sensor, oxygen sensor, and air flow sensor.

The fuel injector consists of a solenoid, a valve, and a nozzle. When the ECM sends a signal to the solenoid, it opens the valve, allowing pressurized fuel to flow through the nozzle and into the engine. The nozzle is designed to atomize the fuel into a fine mist to ensure efficient combustion.

Fuel injectors have replaced carburetors as the primary method of fuel delivery in most modern gasoline and diesel engines. They offer more precise control over the amount of fuel delivered to the engine, resulting in improved fuel efficiency, performance, and emissions.
